LearnJam design, deliver and facilitate learning experiences both independently and in collaboration with partners and clients. We hope our learning experiences will help to imagine, and transition towards, radically better ways of being on this planet.
We are experts in creating and improving online, in-person and blended learning experiences. We believe in taking time to really understand the purpose and context of the learning experience; we design based on what the evidence tells us about how people learn.
My role at LearnJam includes:
Consultation for Digital Learning Providers
I work with leading digital education providers, working closely with their designers to understand the difficulties they face and pinpoint actions which will improve the learning impact of their products.
Whether maximising the pedagogical potential of learning through mobile apps, or integrating blended learning elements into face-to-face courses, I pride myself on being able to quickly understand the unique problems and difficulties that educational product designers face.
I then facilitate creative collaboration with the design team to ensure the products maxamise on their pedagogical potential.
Learner Journey Mapping
I think the foundation of a good learning experience is a rich understanding of the learners and their contexts. This not only includes how and where they might be doing the learning, but also their motivations, anxieties, and the other factors in their life that have an impact on how frequently, how regularly and for how long they are able to engage with the learning in each 'session'.
App-based learning design and prototyping
I work with digital products to develop learner experiences centred on the learner in a specific context. My design is always based on research and an understanding of the learners while taking into account pedagogical principles and educational good practice.
My experience in working in both UX and UI design means I understand where sound pedagogy might be at odds with 'good' UI design.
Progress tracking and learner dashboard design
I help digital learning product designers to better understand how they can meaningfully track progress in their courses. Progress tracking is a crucial part of any learning experiencing. It is the key to sustained motivation. I help digital learning providers understand how they can keep their learners engaged through intrinsic motivations based on real-life needs over gamification, giving learning progress metrics which really mean something to them.
